Monochrome Silence is a conceptual collection inspired by the sculptural work of artist Louise Nevelson. Known for her monochromatic wooden assemblages, Nevelson’s pieces are quiet yet powerful—qualities that shaped the tone of this series.

This project follows a drape-first, design-later process. By exploring fabric directly on the form, I was able to create structure, volume, and layered silhouettes that reflect Nevelson’s approach to building meaning through repetition and depth. I also studied her personal story, inspirations, and artistic philosophy to inform the development of my own design language.

Working entirely in white, each look explores overlapping layers and architectural structure, using shadow and negative space as design elements. Without relying on color or decoration, the garments communicate through shape, silence, and presence—just as Nevelson’s sculptures do.
